Rangamati Police confirmed that, at least one person dead in a gunfight between two armed terrorist group in Kaptai upazila in Rangamati.
According to law enforcement sources, a series of shootings took place between two terrorist groups of cht based regional local parties in Tinchhari Noapara area, bordering Kaptai and Rajsthali upazilas on Thursday afternoon.
After the exchange of fire in the afternoon, when a Bangladesh Army patrol team from the nearby Panchhari zone went there, the terrorists fled the scene and at that time the army members saw a dead body lying there.
No source was immediately available for confirmation of this man identity. However, his estimated age is about 45 years,Sources said.
Raikhali UP Chairman Chhayamong Marma said, “I have also received reports of gunfire from this area, but I don’t know if anyone has died.”
Additional Superintendent of Police Tapas Ranjan Ghosh, who is in charge of the Kaptai Circle of Police, said that, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station had gone there after hearing the news of a dead body in the afternoon after the incident.
A 45-year-old body was recovered and brought to Chandraghona police station. No identity of the body has been found. The next step will be taken after postmortem.
The police could not confirm the identity of the gunman’s or the person killed. But local sources claim, this man also the member of those terrorist rival group, may be.
